Indica Xeta LPG more than value for money

First Look
I was just having a neutral feeling about the launch of Xeta LPG - Indica Xeta with factory fitted LPG. But today, I took a test drive of the car, my feeling just became an excitement. Those who feel that LPG is dangerous, uncomfortable and powerless, then rush to a TATA dealer to take a test drive of new Xeta LPG. I am damn sure, you will just be amazed with the performance.
Engine :
Engine used is same as the normal Xeta 1.2 L. A small change in the ECU tuning has been made to incorporate dual fuel technology. I know, you are waiting for the LPG part, so not much about the petrol part of it.
LPG Section :
The car, which I drove had a LOVATO ITALY LPG sequential injection system installed inside. It has two seperate ECUs for petrol and LPG, which works in a Master - Slave configuration. As per my knowledge, this is the latest technology available in the market for LPG/Petrol dual fuel systems. The tank used is a 34 litre torroidal tank. The LPG kit, if bought from outside, will cost itself around 40-45,000Rs. I am still wondering, how TATAs are able to put such a costly kit, with a marginal price difference of around 20,000 Rs. The LPG kit performance was just amazing that, I even never noticed the 2 BHP power loss, they are telling. With a little throttle, the car was just gazing on LPG with a/c on. I would give 95 out of 100 marks for performance and refinement of the LPG section.
Switching between fuels :
Those who own a conventional LPG fitted car or even a factory fitted ones like Wagonr Duo, knows that switching between fuels is a nightmare. You will feel that jerk when yu switch between, especially from Petrol to LPG. Believe me or not, switching was as smooth and peppy as TATAs claim in Xeta LPG, that you will never notice, whether you are driving on petrol or LPG. Most of the LPG systems like lambda based ones needs to be started on petrol and then switch over to LPG later. The same is the thing in Xeta LPG also. But you just ignore the thing, Xeta's LPG ECU will do all the things. It will switch from petrol to LPG and vice versa according to various factors such as temperature and engine rpm. If you want to override the automatic switching, it is also posssible with the feather touch switch provided near the dashboard.
Mileage :
I have heard from the users that somebody are fetching as high as even 16 km per litre of gas or even more. It is much above competition
Comparison with competition :
There are other cars also with factory fitted LPG, like WagonR Duo or Maruti 800 dual. The main difference between these and Xeta, is the SEQUENTIAL INJECTION technology used in Xeta. It is far far better than the conventional technology used in WagonR or Maruti 800. You wont feel such a heavy dip of power as you notice in WagonR Duo. Switching between fuels is also much more smoother than WagonR. WagonR nowhere comes near Xeta in terms of refinement of LPG system. Mileage is also much higher
Verdict :
Those who want an above average dual fuel car, just take a test drive. This one is far above the competition and more than just value for money.

I am using this vehicle for the last six months and clocked more than 6000 km(on lpg only, other than petrol for starting).
I am really happy with the leg space and head room it gives. The driving
position is excellent gives a comfortable driving experience.
I usually fill LPG full tank( 30L) and empties it. In highway conditions it gives 390 to 400 km / full tank (@80-90kmph with ac full time) while in City I am getting 330-340 km/ tank.
The power steering is very friendly, but AC should have Temp. control.
I service my vehicle at Concorde Motors cochin, they are excellent.
Power delivery at 3rd gear is excellent and it zips through the trafic, I love overtaking with this vehicle.
Boot space is very limited, so I am planing to buy a detachable over head stand for my week-end trips.
Engine sound is lil higher than santro, but no traces of sound inside cabin with AC.
