Suzuki Swift Dzire

Finally it came - Swift Dzire, one of the most awaited entry level sedan from maruti suzuki. After the most celebrated entry level sedan, Esteem here comes the successor. For all those who are looking forward to buy Dzire, here is a review of the features and comparison.

Versions :

As expected, swift Dzire has two versions, an MPI petrol engine and a Multijet fiat made diesel engine. Both are nearly 1.3L in cubic capacity.

Comparison of Petrol and Diesel :

Both the petrol and diesel versions are based on the engines in their hatchback version, suzuki swift. Those who have driven swift have noticed the amazing pick up offered and the riding comfort.

85 BHP was more than enough for a hatchback car, but the 87 BHP engine for Dzire seems to be a bit disappointing for the pick up hungry guys. SX4 will be a better option with 104BHP power, unbeatable. Mileage will be around 14-15 km in the petrol version of Dzire, much better than the 11 km/L of SX 4.

Diesel version has the state of the art multijet engine from Fiat, which has 75BHP power. The torque is really amazing compared with the 113nm of petrol version, with 190nm torque city driving will be as smooth that you can gaze through the traffic even in the 4th gear. Fixed geometry turbo charger is a bit disappointing which will add up turbolag which is a nightmare for diesel drivers. Mileage will be amazing around 19km/L.

Version verdict :

Those who are looking for more mileage, who commutes more daily can go for the diesel version, but at the cost of around a lakh more than petrol version.

Handling and comfort :

Riding comfort is really noticeable. The steering seems a bit tricky to control at higher speeds and while braking, but still keeps the ease of driving at normal speeds. Boot space is really a plus point.

Looks and features :

Like SX 4, Dzire is also a feature rich car with lot of options like steering integrated audio controls, climate dontrols and all. Regarding looks, my personal opinion is SX 4 is far better in looks. I think Maruti has done a bit of mistake by keeping the hatchback design in the front side.

Comparison with SX 4:

Pros : Mileage, Price

Cons : Looks, Pick Up

Pricing :

Price of the car will be around 5.5 lakhs for petrol and 6.4 lakhs for diesel version, which will be an average price tag..

Service:

Nothing to say about the best service network in India, Maruti for petrol engines. For diesel engines, its still a doubtful thing, which is the technical inexperience of maruti service engineers.

Final Verdict :

It is still a matter of doubt, that will it be able to capture the market as its predecessor, Maruti Esteem. Its ofcourse a feature rich entry level sedan which will be good for indian conditions.
